UX Study of Privacy Preferences in an IOT environement
For Professor's Kobsa's Advanced User Interface Architecture class, I worked on a team of four people to conduct UI/UX work for an Internet of Things (IOT) application and study privacy concerns of the users
The goal of the project was to study privacy concerns of users in two hypothetical IOT environments.
Scenario 1: Our Department Building is equipped with Face Recognition payment technology at Coffee Machines and Copiers to allow users to pay by just scanning their face
Scenario 2: Our Department Building is equipped with sophisticated indoor Geo-Location technology, that notifies people on their smartphones of other people approaching them to enable better communication between the users.
Designed an Interview Study for user groups (Professors and Graduate Students) and conducted four one hour long Interviews with prospective users of the system
Performed qualitative analysis on responses
Designed a User Interface to allow employees to specify their privacy concerns
